The Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation (HBA) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to serving less privileged communities and creating awareness around social issues that impact lives. Through education, advocacy, community engagement, and public awareness initiatives, the Foundation seeks to bring about meaningful and lasting change.
Today, HBA is also at the forefront of raising awareness about drowning prevention—a silent public health crisis that claims thousands of lives each year, most of them being children and young adults.

The Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation (HBA) was established as a not-for-profit organisation in 2023 with a deep commitment to serve people in need and support underserved communities. We believe that whatever life has given us must be shared with fellow travellers on the journey of life.
Our mission became more focused and urgent after we lost a cherished young member of our family, Advaitha, in a drowning tragedy at Pawna Lake near Lonavala. A gifted singer and passionate music lover, Advaitha was studying at Symbiosis when his life was cut short at a very young age.

Why Drowning Prevention Matters
Drowning is a serious but preventable public-safety challenge. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 300,000 people die from drowning globally each year (1 May 2026). Drowning is also one of the leading causes of death among children and young people aged 1–24 years. Most drowning deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, and many can be prevented through practical interventions.
The National Crime Records Bureau shows that India witnesses close to 38,000 drowning deaths every year (2022).
Advaitha – A Symphony
Music was Advaitha’s passion. To honour his memory and connect with young people, HBA launched a musical initiative titled “Advaitha: The Symphony.” The first edition was held successfully in September 2025. Young participants brought remarkable energy, talent, and enthusiasm to the event. More importantly, they expressed a strong willingness to support the movement for drowning prevention.
Through music, youth engagement, and public outreach, we seek to transform remembrance into meaningful action.

Our Work at Pawna Lake
Pawna Lake holds a deeply personal significance for HBA. Advaitha lost his life in its turbulent waters.
The tragedy reinforced the urgent need for stronger safety measures at popular tourist destinations. HBA continues to advocate greater awareness, effective warning systems, adequate patrolling, safety equipment, and timely administrative intervention at Pawna Lake and other vulnerable water bodies.
