Message from the Founder
There are moments in life that divide time into a before and an after.
The loss of Advaitha was one such moment for our family. He was young, gifted, full of warmth, and deeply passionate about music. His absence cannot be expressed in words.
In the midst of grief, we were confronted with a difficult question: could this tragedy have been prevented?
The answer compelled us to act.
We realised that many families lose their loved ones to drowning because adequate precautions, warnings, and emergency-response systems are not always available. We also realised that awareness among visitors, especially young people, can make a critical difference.
The Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation is our effort to turn remembrance into responsibility.
We do not seek to work alone. We invite citizens, educational institutions, community organisations, public representatives, members of the media, and like-minded supporters to join this movement.
Every conversation can spread awareness.
Every precaution can prevent a tragedy.

The Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation is strengthened by individuals from diverse professional backgrounds who share a common commitment to compassion, public service, education, and drowning prevention.
The Foundation’s journey began as a deeply personal tribute. It has since evolved into a collective mission to create awareness, encourage preparedness, advocate safer water bodies, and help prevent avoidable tragedies.
The People Behind the Mission
Santosh Verma is one of the founding members of the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation.
Together with Binita Verma, he established the organisation in memory of their mother, Hemant Bala Verma, whose life was defined by compassion, kindness, and service to others. The Foundation was initially envisioned as a platform to support disadvantaged sections of society, particularly through educational initiatives.
Following the tragic loss of Advaitha in a drowning incident, Santosh Verma joined the family in expanding the organisation’s mission to include water-safety awareness and drowning prevention.
A publishing and education-sector professional, he has worked with national and international publishing organisations in senior roles. He is associated with Blackspine Publishing Private Limited, which develops educational books for school students, and with Dynos, an interactive-learning initiative.
His experience in educational publishing and digital learning supports HBA’s efforts to develop clear, accessible, and age-appropriate awareness material for schools, families, and communities.
Renu Kaul is a publisher, former journalist, and one of the principal voices behind the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation’s drowning-prevention campaign.
She is the Managing Director of Vitasta Publishing Private Limited and has extensive experience in publishing books on social, political, economic, and contemporary issues. Before entering publishing, she worked as a journalist with leading newspapers, including The Indian Express and Hindustan Times. She has also co-authored biography of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
As Advaitha’s mother, she has played a central role in transforming an immeasurable personal loss into a sustained public-awareness mission.

Binita Verma is one of the founding members of the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation.
She co-founded the organisation with Santosh Verma in loving memory of their mother, Hemant Bala Verma. Inspired by the values their mother upheld throughout her life, she has remained closely associated with the Foundation’s commitment to compassion, education, and service to vulnerable communities.
After the loss of Advaitha, she joined the family in strengthening HBA’s focus on drowning prevention and public awareness. Her association with the Foundation reflects the belief that grief can be transformed into meaningful action and that sustained community engagement can help protect lives.
Sudesh Verma is an advocate, author, former journalist, political communicator, and one of the principal contributors to the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation’s drowning-prevention initiative.
He has more than two decades of experience in journalism across print and television. He has worked with organisations including The Statesman, Business Standard, Deccan Chronicle, NewsX, India News, and other media platforms. He has also served as a political analyst and has participated extensively in television discussions on public affairs.
An advocate registered with the Bar Council, he practises before courts in Delhi, including the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He is also associated with public communication and media relations within the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He is the author of books including Narendra Modi: The GameChanger and has written widely on politics, governance, and national issues.
As Advaitha’s father, his work with HBA is rooted in a determination to ensure that preventable drowning deaths receive the public and administrative attention they urgently require.
Through awareness campaigns, media engagement, advocacy, and youth mobilisation, he seeks to help build a safer and more responsive society.
Dr Sarvesh Verma is closely associated with the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation as a member of the extended family and a supporter of its mission. He contributes to the Foundation’s efforts to promote compassion, public awareness, and responsible community action.
His involvement reflects HBA’s belief that drowning prevention requires sustained participation from families, professionals, institutions, and concerned citizens.
He has been a legal practitioner for the last 30 years.
Anju Verma is associated with the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation as a family member and committed supporter of its welfare and drowning-prevention initiatives. She shares the Foundation’s commitment to transforming remembrance into responsible action and helping build greater awareness around water safety.
Her association strengthens the collective spirit at the heart of HBA’s work: families and communities coming together to prevent avoidable tragedies.
Major General KK Sinha (Veteran) is a decorated veteran of the Indian Army and a supporter of the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation’s mission.
Commissioned into the Sikh Regiment in 1979, he served in significant command and staff appointments during his military career. He commanded a battalion during the Kargil conflict of 1999 and later commanded the Manipur-based Red Shield Division.
He has been awarded the Sena Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal for his service.
Following his retirement, Major General Sinha has remained engaged with issues relating to national security, strategic affairs, and public policy. He is frequently invited to contribute to public discussions on defence and national issues.
His association with HBA reinforces the Foundation’s emphasis on preparedness, responsibility, and coordinated action. These principles are equally important in the effort to improve safety standards at vulnerable water bodies and prevent avoidable loss of life.
Entrepreneur and Supporter of the Mission
Veenita Sinha is an entrepreneur and a supporter of the Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation.
She is the founder of DaLORE, an initiative that engages with India’s textile traditions and regional crafts. She is also associated as a director with DaLORE India Private Limited and Strategic Darshan Private Limited.
Her work reflects an appreciation for India’s cultural heritage, skilled artisans, and community-based enterprise. As a member of the family associated with HBA, she supports the Foundation’s commitment to service, awareness, and collective action. Her association with the Foundation strengthens its endeavour to bring together people from diverse walks of life in support of a shared public purpose.
